Second Kristen McMenamy in the series. I adored her and her nearly non-existent eyebrows so much back in the day. I still do and she looks better now than ever.

The colors in this image have a nice red, white and blue majority. The lightness increased by the damage. The pop of a red Versace dress against it all. The background of a big pile of bones with blue shadows. Old glory takes on a layered meaning.

More of the naiveté with a snowflake cut halo and tiny mustard points orbiting. The snowflake cut showing through the damage of the top of her head. The green circle, the topmost halo, could have been a gemstone or a kiwi. It’s far too damaged to recognize.

Comparatively this image is less stellar than the first Kristen. It lacks the pow of the black and white on color trick. It’s still a strong image, but contrast and compare is another idea that haunts me.

I remember doing these at the time in my apartment on Duke University Road in Durham. I had my own studio and a lovely desk. It provided a nice womb of safety in which I could breathe and create for a little bit. I miss that apartment.
