DJ Mix

Here is the last of the archival DJ Mix series. Notice I said last and not latest. Don’t forget the January 31, 2013 mix that I just posted last month.

This collaborative DJ Mix with Ernesto Repetto starts out with Ecstasy by jj. A great band that I adore and maybe a stretch for a witch house mix. But that Lil Wayne reference and the sluggish tempo were ripe for the taking. We remixed it and dropped it into slot one.

All the usual suspects show up. Salem, oOooOO and Balam Acab all make guest appearances. That moment at the seven minute mark when jj, Balam Acab and Salem are all going is exactly what I love most about this mix. That synth pad is exquisite. By the eight minute mark when the rap comes in it’s perfection.

By perfection, I think rap should sound more like Linda Blair in The Exorcist. Oh wait, that was called Skinny Puppy back in the day. You have to stand by any micro genre that style checks Skinny Puppy.

By the nine minute mark Ernesto’s custom made four on the floor beat is perfect for the demonic cries and lush synth pad. A lot of these pieces needed custom fits in order to iron out the original production. Not that the production is a problem, but it’s not a DJ Mix friendly genre.

I hope you enjoyed this walk down memory lane. As always, use the embedded player if it’s still up there. If not, you can download or listen to the 320 kbps here.
