Collagraph

Collagraph 1 is a cliché. Just google collagraph and you will see the old cheesecloth trick over and over again. Just like X-Ray Spex, I am a cliché.

It’s less about that and more about showing a diversity of work. A series of ideas I should return to in one synthetic form. It’s hard to imagine how I could possibly fuse even most of these elements into a single body of work.

But then again it would be easy to incorporate my own printed papers into the collage pieces. I have toyed with the idea of custom papers for some time. It is something that could really push the work in a new direction.

How to do the custom papers is a huge issue. Should I print pieces or use more found paper from the streets? How can I make each piece purely unique and my own?

I have also imagined working over printed materials from magazines. Bleaching them perhaps or making paper from shredded magazines. Another intensive process that could easily up the ante.

It is time for pure experimentation. No goals or direction. Just a big push towards processes. That is the next big goal.
