DJ Mix

Here’s the second DJ Mix in this series. It also happens to no longer be available on soundcloud. I am listening to it now as I write this and I still love that Gui Boratto opening track.

This is my first foray into electro house with a touch of tech. It was more about putting together a series of artists I was really into at the time. Ernie and I had seen Rex the Dog on New Year’s Eve during this era. IAMX was another love who I had just seen on tour. And of course The Knife and Karin appear here.

Once again, I still have a love for all these songs. Some of that love has mellowed, but this is the beginning of using songs in Spanish. An obvious influence from Ernesto Repetto.

The mix is week due to my frustration with Traktor. It never train wrecks, but I can’t achieve the seamlessness I now get with Ableton.

The photographs on the cover are lovely. The top is that holographic paper that is so expensive at Canal Plastics. Just a bunch of junk and mailing tape on a sidewalk in SoHo. The bottom half is Kuba cloth. Lovely.

You can listen or download here.
