The second of this three-piece Holepunch miniseries. This one continues with previously mentioned themes.

The background is from Steven R. Gilmore’s cover for Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse by Skinny Puppy. The figure is a vintage piece from Thomas Malic. The new interesting bit is the snowflaked hole punch layer. It’s a magazine page that was printed on translucent vellum.

The translucence of the vellum is an idea I must use again. I must revisit it this year. The transparency lends itself to the heavily layered look I have been into in recent work.

Overall I like this piece the least of the three. Holepunch3 is my favorite with Holepunch1 coming in second. This particular piece is mired by the brooding posture. It needs more overt sexuality and less anxiety.

The color combo is a bit jarring. It’s a complimentary scheme which I am drawn to, but the two flesh tones are too similar. The similarity is nice but maybe the blue background is the issue. No, it’s just the figurative element is from the back and the pose is all wrong.

Posting these older pieces gives me new insights on things I have created. It also lets me re-imagine pieces that I am currently creating. It’s a necessary process.
