Third and final piece of this tiny run is Holepunch3. Saved the best for last.

It’s red, white and blue. It’s homoerotic black and white muscle worship. A holepunch lace made of a photo of planet Earth from space fights that old foreground/background war splendidly.

One idea I have had while writing about these older pieces is to reconstruct these ideas using the plotter cutter. Except with more extreme hole shapes. And actually cutting the holes rather than creating a lace overlay. It could be a fun exercise in color and abstract shapes.

This simple and naive idea from twenty years ago gives me limitless ideas today. I can easily see the latest pieces in these. I can also use these ancient pieces to see future pieces. Amazing!

Now I just need to get rid of stumbling blocks about which idea to do next. The best thing about these older pieces is that I just made them without over thinking the idea. Those days seem long gone but I really need them back.

So do I go for reinventing the Supermodels or go for the new Twin Skin futurist idea? I don’t know why I ask. I need to go for futurism with a touch of holepunch naiveté.
