Number nine in the Itek series features a surprising guest, Craig Ashby as the subject. I always have to name myself for the SEO keywords to function. Please don’t think I have lost my mind any more than usual.

In this image I give my best Betty Blue. Although I have never seen the film, I was exposed to the image and see a connection. I have seen the lead woman in the recent New Wave of French Horror film Inside. Maybe I should watch Betty Blue sometime soon.

Shortly after taking these images I started two portraits of friends. This particular image I sampled into one of those portraits. Eventually those paintings will make it here on this site. For now, I just want to bring up that even then I was sampling and borrowing from myself. I think this will be important in the coming year and because it’s a practice I have always done instinctively.

In this particular piece we see the return of the light arrow always pointing to me. The best part is how high contrast the image is. Almost no gradation of white to black, just a bit in the hands.

  1. I’m a big fan of that one!

    1. Me too, if that doesn’t sound too self absorbed.
