DJ Mix

Finally a swift turn from the minimal and electro. This DJ Mix focuses on Italo Disco and would not exist without Ernesto Repetto’s influence. I tried to keep to a specific strain of Italo. Mostly arpeggiated, space opera Italo.

I do include some vocal tracks like Company B’s Fascinated. Downtown Durham, North Carolina had one gay club called the Power Company. They wore that Company B track out every week for years. The reason I made this mix is because I realized how much Hi-NRG and Italo surrounded me during those early adult years.

The DJ Mix continues with key moments from Charlie’s Spacer Woman. A little robotic Ono-esque ditty that is so lovely. The minute I first encountered the track I knew I had to work it into a mix eventually.

We continue on through the Battlestar Galactica theme and end with Laserdance’s Love Stimulation. A track I first encountered remixed by Paul van Dyk featuring an epic Lisa Gerrard sample. Here is the original. Epic, beautiful and just fine without the push from Dead Can Dance.

The cover this time is an obvious connection between chain link fence and the quilted pattern on the constantly present mattress on an NYC sidewalk. Easy connections just like a mix of vintage Italo Disco.

You can download the 320 kbps file here.
