A strange number 10 in the MPRSS_HRNT but still a winner and great continuation of the recent upswing. Overall this series has many more successes than failures. And I love that.

The strengths of this one are numerous. The color scheme is on point. The black and white model allows for the color palette to push and pop. The background and face replacement colors vibrate against that black and white. Pair it with the roses and pinks of the hairnet and it’s electric.

Which brings me to the composition. The sadness of the black and white and the model’s expression play nicely off that super dynamic hairnet. The butterfly mimicry. The paralleling of the art deco jewelry with the hairnet surrounding the eye. It’s these synchronicities that tally up nicely for the piece and propel it beyond the simpler successes of other pieces.

More importantly this piece was a struggle much like the previous MPRSS_HRNT_09. I noticed tonight that the bottom of the background and the strip up right side of the background are added because I remember cutting it short by accident. You would never know that if I didn’t bring it up, but I love sharing the harder bits.

Not to mention that jewelry was a nightmare to cut out and place. I thought I was going to tear it numerous times.
