Polaroids 3

Third set in the Polaroids Series sees part two of Polaroids 2. Kind of a bonus tracks edition of the previous set. There are a lot of reasons for doing this.

First reason is flexibility. I am trying to loosen up and show the full range of work I have created. Not just the cherry picked favorites. I started to notice this initially when posting on Myspace and later Facebook. Not everyone likes the same ones I like the most. So I should show as much as I can without sweating it. Loosen up.

Secondly, I have only posted about a baker’s dozen of these around the net. The people who are a part of the pictures or their friends and family members should have access to these pictures. Plus, it may encourage the lost members of this entourage to seek me out. For better or worse, let it happen.

Third reason is love. I love so many of these. They are wonderful documents of bygone eras. Still alive and ready to bring back the rush of memories.

I tried to break this star shower curtain series in two. Equally dividing the best of the images. Equally dividing the great and what I think are the less than great.

So it winds up being about balance and at the same time loosening up. Both precarious in their own respect. Finding that center seems especially important. I want to give as much as possible while maintaining the center.

Now would be a great time to mention that this is barely half of the Polaroids in my collection. In these nine sets are less than a hundred images. About half of what I have.

Something in me still holds back from showing the racier sets. The years of working on digital works made from found internet pornography. That titillating shoot with Paula Culver of me in lingerie and clown makeup. The corn on the cob series. Maybe when I get really loosened up and loose my Mormon based internet host.
