The Son by Rochelle Ratner

Please don’t be angry. It was just a week
before my seventeenth birthday
and, don’t you understand—
I had to know, I was old enough,
everyone said I was old enough.

The Son 06 shows birthday time. Streamers and a cake. Just in time for my birthday coming up in two weeks from the time of this writing.

It will have passed by the time you are reading this. Fortunately I have managed to take five days of vacation to celebrate my getting older. So what are my plans?

The weekend before Ernie and I will be seeing HEALTH at Le Poisson Rouge. A great way to start the week off with a little head banging and dancing about.

Then for the actual birthday week off I will attempt to finish up those last projects and start making things. A new Icon and then maybe work on Superglue and Document 13.

All of this and clean the house. Oh joy. Way to spend a week off from work. Cleaning house. Here’s to hoping it won’t totally take away from making art.

Even if it does I just need to clear the space and prepare. It is time to make a move. Time to push forward and see what I can accomplish.
